Highlights and Themes

This page features related texts and potential future areas of research based on the beekeeping titles in Mann Library. For example, the connection between beekeeping and the Eastern Orthodox Church has received very little attention either in English or in Russian. Aside from these proposed thematic groupings, researchers may also wish to further expand their exploration using the Rare Books in the Annex information box on this page, which describes additional rare titles that are physically located in the library annex (offsite storage).

Some themes in our beekeeping collection include:

Rare Books in the Annex

In the Cornell Library annex, which is the library's offsite storage center, we have a sizeable collection of historical beekeeping publications from the USSR. Of particular interest are the 138 titles from the Soviet Union published before 1953, the year Stalin passed away. The library holds 127 books and 11 periodicals from this time period

For many of these titles, Mann Library holds the only copy in the world (according to WorldCat, an online library database that you can search using title, author, or call number). These titles can offer further avenues for analysis and historical exploration.
