Using OASIS to Identify Unreceived Approvals (2020)

For those of you who are ordering print (non-DDA) copies of Coutts approval plan books we did not receive due to the pandemic, here are some tips from Mary Lynne Kingston (via Jesse) on ordering through the Approval Rejects folder in OASIS.

1) In your OASIS Account, click Approval rejects

2) Choose a weekly folder to review (avoid current week as titles are still being managed by ProQuest colleagues – moving to DDA).  Sort by LC Classification, location, publisher, etc.

For any title of interest, review additional order information on the Check Status tab on the lower pane.  Specifically, watch for firm orders already underway and ebook additions to the Ebook Central DDA pool, as noted below in yellow highlight.

3) For any title of interest, hover over the green Action arrow for the list of options. Choose List/Forward.

4) This transaction adds the title to your list for further review and possible firm order action outside the approval flow – just the same firm order workflow.

[NOTE: Just to outline a method that's working well for me, I created a new folder for rejected approval titles in my selection area (as described in 3, above) and filtered the master Approval Rejects list by my LC Classifications, sending those records to the new folder I created. (You could also create a folder for each LC class, publisher, etc., if desired.) That way I didn't have to deal with the huge system-wide list more than once. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to filter out the DDA titles en masse, nor are they indicated with a red status designation. You need to view the Check Status tab as illustrated in 2 to determine if we have a DDA record in the catalog. It's useful to pay attention to the rejection date in the red status line (if there is one), too, since newly added records may not yet have been reviewed for DDA availability.]
