Publishers' Catalogs

Some Publishers' catalogs and flyers come in the mail to the Library, or to individual selectors. To order from a catalog, either mark the catalog and send it to Acquisitions with an indication of which pages have orders on them, or photocopy the relevant pages and use the photocopy to place the order. The latter method allows for quicker routing of the catalog. Some catalogs of multiple or general subject interest are available for review in Olin 110 across from the selectors' gift shelves.

Publishers' catalogs received at Mann.
Catalogs received at Mann Library are distributed to selectors. Mann selectors ordering from a catalog should mark the items desired, initial them, and send the catalog to the selector for monographs with an indication of which pages have orders on them. The selector for monographs will assign a fund and forward it to Library Technical Services in Olin.

Usage Data

Borrow Direct Data Repository: based at Penn; this data repository is no longer being supported but may be reinstated in the future.

CUL Usage Statistics: via CD wiki; COUNTER and other usage reports from hundreds of publishers and vendors, mostly for calendar years 2008-present

ILL requests.
Interlibrary Loan Services sends copies of ILL requests to Ada Albright in 106 Olin, who then routes them to the appropriate selectors. (Borrow Direct requests are not included.) ILL requests are distributed to selectors for informational purposes only, on the assumption that some may find them useful in guiding their purchasing decisions.

For recently published monographs that meet specific criteria, ILL will purchase a copy of the requested title as part of the library's Buy or Borrow program. If a title is purchased through this program, Ada will not receive a copy of the request, and no record will be forwarded to selectors.

ILL requests filled by Mann.
On request, Mann's Interlibrary Services Department runs an annual report of monographs and serials requested by Mann patrons. This report is distributed electronically to all selectors. The selector for monographs typically reviews the monograph report and purchases appropriate items. All selectors use the serials report in evaluating subscriptions.
