Overview

The library subscribes to a number of news databases. Some of these databases focus on the United States, and some include news sources from around the world.

Nexis Uni and Access World News provide coverage from the last decade or two (dates vary by news source) from many countries around the world.

Finding news sources from around the world

We also have historical coverage from a few of the largest newspapers in the world. Proquest Historical Newspapers includes historical coverage of Le Monde, 1944-2000 (France), the Times of India 1861-2010 with (some years missing), and a Chinese Newspapers Collection, 1832-1953. From another vendor, we have the Times of London Digital Archive, 1785-2006 and the Sunday Times Digital Archive, 1822-2006.

Unfortunately, for many nations of the world, historical coverage, reaching beyond the last decade or so, is often not available directly from the local news sources. We do have BBC Monitoring (back to 1999) and World News Connection and Foreign Broadcast Information Service to help cover the historical news worldwide. You’ll find these databases listed below.
