It also provides measures of school segregation, which declined substantially in the 1970s nationwide but subsequently has had little change. Some additional information is provided about the test score performance of the schools that children attended. Within the same district the disparities between schools attended by white and minority children are often not large, but on a metropolitan level they are severe.
