Sociology: A Research Guide: Public Opinion

This CISER Data Archive site provides links to the most frequently cited opinion polls and surveys including the NORC, Public Opinion Online including iPOLL, and Roper.

A guide prepared by Cornell Librarians focusing primarily on sources of data and reference titles.

A compilation of more than 14,000 surveys conducted by more than 700 polling organizations in the United States and more than 80 other countries from 1986 to the present. Each of the nearly 350,000 records reports a question asked and the responses given.

This site includes sources in opinion polling such as Gallup, Harris, Roper; ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC; Los Angeles Times, New York Times, USA Today and the Wall Street Journal. The database is maintained by the Roper Center, a non-profit education and research organization in the field of public opinion, polls and public policy. To link to the Roper Center iPOLL site go to the iPOLL login page and enter your e-mail address. On your first login, you'll be asked to register. After your first visit, your e-mail address acts as your login. Using iPOLL from the Roper Center site requires that you use the site directly from a Cornell IP address on the Ithaca campus.
