Types of Scores
A music library is home to various types of scores, including manuscripts, facsimiles, critical editions, collected editions, urtext editions, and performances editions. All varieties of scores are searchable in the library catalog. In general, at the Cornell music library:
- Collected works editions are located in the reference section on the bottom floor, with call numbers beginning with M3, organized alphabetically by composer's last name.
- Facsimiles of manuscripts are located in the special collections shelving on the bottom floor, with call numbers beginning with ML93-ML96.5, organized alphabetically by composer's last name.
- Performance editions are shelved on the top floor; see Browse by Call Number (Scores and Books).
