Other Data Sources
- ProMED-mailProMED - the Program for Monitoring Emerging Diseases - is an Internet-based reporting system dedicated to rapid global dissemination of information on outbreaks of infectious diseases and acute exposures to toxins that affect human health, including those in animals and in plants grown for food or animal feed. Electronic communications enable ProMED to provide up-to-date and reliable news about threats to human, animal, and food plant health around the world, seven days a week.
- GeoSentinelGeoSentinel is a worldwide communication and data collection network for the surveillance of travel-related morbidity. GeoSentinel Sites participate in surveillance and monitoring of all travel related illnesses seen in their clinics. Aggregation of this data across the network of 60 globally dispersed medicine clinics on all continents allows linking of final diagnoses in migrating populations with similar geographic exposures.
- EurosurveillanceEurosurveillance provides the European public health community with an open-access platform to exchange relevant findings on communicable disease surveillance, prevention and control. A weekly, electronic, peer-reviewed publication, Eurosurveillance aims to provide timely facts and guidance for public health professionals and decision-makers in the field of infectious diseases to facilitate the implementation of effective prevention and control measures.

- National Health and Nutrition Examination SurveyThe National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) is a program of studies designed to assess the health and nutritional status of adults and children in the United States.
- Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance SystemThe Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) monitors six categories of health-related behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of death and disability among youth and adults, including:
• Behaviors that contribute to unintentional injuries and violence
• Sexual behaviors related to unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV infection
• Alcohol and other drug use
• Tobacco use

- National Syndromic Surveillance ProgramThe National Syndromic Surveillance Program (NSSP) promotes and advances development of a syndromic surveillance system for the timely exchange of syndromic data. These data are used to improve nationwide situational awareness and enhance responsiveness to hazardous events and disease outbreaks to protect America’s health, safety, and security.
- Demographic and Health SurveysDemographic and Health Surveys (DHS) are nationally-representative household surveys that provide data for a wide range of monitoring and impact evaluation indicators in the areas of population, health, and nutrition.
- Health MapHealthMap, a team of researchers, epidemiologists and software developers at Boston Children's Hospital founded in 2006, is an established global leader in utilizing online informal sources for disease outbreak monitoring and real-time surveillance of emerging public health threats.
- Zoonotic Disease Emergence/Viral ThreatAs part of USAID's Emerging Pandemic Threats (EPT) program, the PREDICT project focuses on detection and discovery of zoonotic diseases at the wildlife-human interface. The public-facing PREDICT HealthMap Website provides a dynamic visual display of PREDICT surveillance data and preliminary test results.
- The Opportunity AtlasThe Opportunity Atlas is an initial release of social mobility data, the result of a collaboration between researchers at the Census Bureau, Harvard University, and Brown University. The objective of the Opportunity Atlas is to measure the average outcomes (e.g., earnings) of children who grow up in each neighborhood in America, by demographic subgroup (race, gender, and parental income).
