Overview
The Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections and the Kheel Center for Labor-Management Documentation are open to researchers by appointment only. Due to high demand, we recommend submitting an appointment request at least two weeks in advance of your desired visit. Please do not make travel plans until you have received written confirmation of your appointment time and date.
Appointments are for only one person. If you are working with someone else please let us know. Research partners will also need to create an account in order to have an appointment confirmed.
If you are unable to keep your appointment at its scheduled date and time, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing rareref@cornell.edu or kheelref@cornell.edu. Because space is limited in the reading room, your seat may not be available if you arrive late for your scheduled appointment.
New Appointments
New appointment requests can be made from the Appointments tab of your Special Collections Account by selecting New Appointment.

Clicking New Appointment will direct you to the appointment request form.
Site automatically defaults to the Kheel Center. To request an appointment for the Rare and Manuscripts Collections (RMC), select the appropriate repository from the drop-down. If you are unsure where materials are held, please review the repository information in the item's catalog record or finding aid.
The appointment calendar will automatically adjust to reflect the opening hours for each repository.

New appointment requests must be submitted at least one week in advance. The appointment calendar will not allow you to select days less than one week away.
You can request an Appointment Time and specify the Length of Appointment from the appropriate drop-downs.
If your selected date and time is not available, it’s likely that all available appointments for that date and time are taken. Please email rareref@cornell.edu or kheelref@cornell.edu with questions.
Manage Appointments
Your appointment requests are stored in your Special Collections Account under the Appointments tab. You can edit or cancel your appointment using the Actions drop-down.

New appointment requests will initially have the status of Unconfirmed. Please do not make travel plans until you have received written confirmation of your appointment time and date.
