LaTeX Resources for Graduate Students: LaTeX editors and compilers

For compiling a LaTeX document on a computer, each operating system has its own TeX compiler.

• For Linux and UNIX: TeXLive
• For Mac users: MacTeX
• For Windows users: MiKTeX

If you rather work in the cloud, there is Overleaf. Overleaf is a platform-independent LaTeX editor and compiler, with collaboration capabilities. Unfortunately, the latter have become more limited to encourage paid subscriptions. Hence, if you have more than one collaborator ask your system manager whether your department has a paid subscription.
