BIONB 1220: The Mind: Scopus- searching and function

Start your search

Here is a sample search in Scopus.  Note that for doing close paraphrasing, the use of quotations will search for the words that occur within the quotation marks as a phrase.  Also, for words that have different endings or spellings, you can use the *  as a wildcard search. See below:

This search will yield 1700 document results.  This should be refined based on other keywords of interest.

Refinment Techniques

There are several refinement techniques you can use within an original search so that you do not have to start over.
Some of these techniques include:

  • "search within results"
  • sort by most cited
  • year
  • subject area
  • author
  • article type
  • and more!

Many of these techniques will be demonstrated in class, but you can also visit  https://tutorials.scopus.com/EN/BasicSearch/index.html     for more detailed instructions outside of the workshop.
