Step 3c: Running your search in Wildlife &ecology Studies Worldwide
Example of a search in Wildlife & Ecology Studies Worldwide for a protocol investigating the diagnosis of osteomyelitis in rats, mice, guinea pigs, and rabbits using imaging (same scenario as 3a and 3b):
1. This database is available through EBSCO host so is best accessed through the Library Catalog. This will take you directly to the advanced search 2. Enter each group of search terms (original concept and its synonyms) build your search. Be sure that each concept or group of terms is being entered into a separate search box using the default "AND" option to the left of the search bar to connect them.
- Search box #1 : diagnos* OR assess*
- Search box #2 : osteomyelit*
- Search box #3 : rat OR rats OR "guinea pig*" OR mouse OR mice OR rabbit*
- Search box #4: imag* OR radio* OR marker* OR biomarker* OR noninvasive OR MRI OR tomograph* OR ultraso*
Use an asterisk (*) to truncate words -- diagnos* finds diagnose, diagnosis, diagnostic, etc. The use of quotation marks will ensure that a term with multiple words is searched for exactly as entered. Please note that "OR" is capitalized to distinguish between search terms and how they are combined, this is not case-sensitive.
3. You can further refine your results using the additional filters available on the advanced search page, or after running the search using the filters on the sidebar of the results page.
4. To save your results, select the "share" drop down on the results page and select how you want to save your search. This could be by saving it to a folder in your EBSCO account, or using a permalink to the results page.
