The Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research expands, strengthens, and speeds the connections between research, policy, and practice to enhance human development and well-being.


Guide Objectives

This research guide provides helpful hints, approaches and links for conducting a thorough and comprehensive literature search for evidence relating to the capstone project.  This includes both the published literature found in scholarly journals, as well as gray literature such as government reports and conference proceedings.  Navigate the guide using the blue tabs above or the following links:
  • Evaluating Information: Identify and access appropriate databases for searching the scholarly literature on your topic. Identify key concepts and search terms to effectively find relevant articles.
  • Searching the Literature: Construct effective search strategies to locate highly cited, peer-reviewed, empirical research articles and the articles that cite them easily and efficiently.
  • Information for Background Section: Guidance for finding background information with links to key articles as well as demographic, economic, and health statistics.
  • A Literature Review: Guidance for writing a literature review.
  • Managing your research: Use citation management software in order to manage and correctly cite the references that you find.
