Annotated Bibliography & Critical Research Summary

The purpose of this assignment is to give you an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about a specific research question that is of interest to you.  You will read and assess the academic literature on this research topic and then synthesize the information in a critical summary.

The library research session and this course guide will help you find scholarly resources on your topic, including academic subject encyclopedias for authoritative background information, books and journal articles.

An annotated bibliography is a list of citations to books, articles, and documents. Each citation is followed by a brief (usually about 150 words) descriptive and evaluative paragraph, the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy, and quality of the sources cited. The following guide outlines the process, the difference between an annotation versus an abstract, and tips on how to appraise a book, article or other scholarly resources.
