BorrowDirect

If the library doesn't have a title you're looking for, or we have it but another patron has borrowed it (it's "checked out'), you can use BorrowDirect to request it from another library in the BorrowDirect system. Turnaround time is 3-5 days.

Look for the Request item button in library catalog records.

*Note: The Request scan of article/chapter link is mostly for books or journals held at the Library Annex. You can also request a free scan if you are studying abroad of if you have a disability. In most cases, if the book or journal is available in an on-campus library, you need to go to the library to retrieve the item from the stacks yourself.

Interlibrary Loan

If the library doesn't have the journal that contains an article you are looking for, you can request a scan of the article via Interlibrary Loan.

From a library database, or from Google Scholar, check to see if we have the article by clicking the "Get it! Cornell" link. If you don't find the article, you can ask for assistance (sometimes the journal will be here, in hardcopy!), or submit a request.

In addition, if a book isn't available via BorrowDirect, the library will broaden the search to borrow through Interlibrary Loan.
