Julie Otsuka Interviewed

Japanese American writer Gene Oishi hosts novelist Julie Otsuka, as she talks about her novel, When the Emperor Was Divine. Otsuka's mother was interned, as was Oishi, and the two discuss themes of secrecy and the anger which appear in the book. They also exchange stories about the internment of Japanese Americans.
