At this point let's explore the data ourselves.
- Select a town or city of your choice. Find some basic demographic characteristics for that community (for example, age and sex distribution; race/ethnicity) and compare them to basic demographic characteristics of surrounding communities, the county, and the state. Does anything about your particular community stand out relative to the other geographic areas that you examined?
- Similarly, examine income and poverty data for your community vs. other surrounding communities. Is your community in-line with the surrounding communities, or are there unique trends in your community?
- Explore Business in your community. Which Industry sector (2 digit NAICS code) generates the most revenue? Which sector has the largest number of employees? Is it the same sector?
- Which specific industry (6 digit NAICS code) generates the most revenue? Which industry has the largest number of employees? Is it the same industry?
