Free Citation Management Programs

Citation management programs allow you to gather and organize citations from websites and databases.  They also help you format your papers by inserting and formatting in-text citations and bibliographies in a variety of styles.

The two best know free, web-based citation are Zotero and Mendeley.  They're very similar, so try them both  if you're not sure which to try.

Cornell Library has a comparison chart for many programs, including these two.
