In 2013, the Visual History Archive expanded beyond the Holocaust for the first time, working with Aegis Trust to add sixty-four audiovisual testimonies detailing the Rwandan Tutsi Genocide of 1994. This atrocity claimed up to one million lives over the course of about one hundred days, with government-backed majority Hutus targeting the large Tsutsi minority.

Compiling the Rwandan testimonies for the Visual History Archive has been a collective endeavor conducted in two languages--Kinyarwanda and English--in Rwanda and the United States.
