End of Module 1
You have completed Module 1. Return to your course site and answer the questions under the final Module 1 library assignment. Leave this tutorial window open so that you can refer back to it when needed. If you have any questions or problems related to the tutorial, e-mail your librarians, Camille Andrews: ca92@cornell.edu or Kate Ghezzi-Kopel: kwg37@cornell.edu.
In Module I of this tutorial we have explained how to:
- Distinguish popular nutritional claims from evidence-based scholarly peer-reviewed literature
- Evaluate information according to established criteria
- Trace a claim from popular sources to the scholarly literature
- Analyze a claim using support or refutation from credible scholarly sources
You should now have the tools you need to identify a popular article or claim, analyze it, trace the evidence to the scholarly literature, and evaluate the scientific study at a basic level. You will be able to use these skills as the course continues.
