HIST 2391 Project Guide - Digital CoLab: Home

This guide was created for HIST 2391 by the Digital CoLab to provide instructions and useful resources for students' final digital humanities projects.

Introduction

This guide serves as a resource center for the concepts, tools, and terms used for Kiran M. and Eliza B.'s CoLab sessions for Jon Parmenter's HIST 2391 - From Terra Incognita to Territories of Nation-States: Early American History in Two Dozen Maps course. The guide is intended to be used by students of the course to work through and complete their final project, a focused, image-centered exhibition in Exhibit.so. The guide includes information on:

  • How to use Exhibit.so to create an exhibition
  • How to find and use IIIF Manifests for your maps
  • How to use images that do not have IIIF Manifests in your exhibition
  • How to upload items to the Internet Archive
  • Basic introduction to terms like IIIF, metadata, servers, etc.

If you have questions or run into issues, the Digital CoLab hosts weekly co-working drop-in hours that are open to all (students, faculty, staff, etc.) to receive project help on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am-12pm.

You can also contact us by emailing digitalcolab@cornell.edu. For more information, see our website.
