Directories: A Finding Guide: U.S.: States & Cities
The Cornell University Library subscribes to a variety of specialized directories. Find access to subscription and selected public access directory databases here.
According to the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) State and Local Documents Task Force (SLDTF), this is "a guide for State Blue Books and State Encyclopedias. According to Wikipedia Blue book or Bluebook is a term often referring to an almanac or other compilation of statistics and information. The term dates back to the 15th century, when large blue velvet-covered books were used for record-keeping by the Parliament of the United Kingdom."
Given their widespread availability online (see above), we have cancelled most of the Olin Reference subscriptions to print copies of state blue books, almanacs, and legislative handbooks, excepting only New York and a few nearby states.
