CLASS 1524: Stairway to Hell: Dante's Inferno and Classical Myth (Spring 2024)

a guide to library research

Tips

References to books

References to books generally include an author, a book title, the publisher city, the publisher name and the year published. Use the library's home page and search by title of the book in quotation marks. Example-- "Life of Pi"

References to essays or chapters

References to essays or chapters begin with the author of the chapter or essay, the title of the chapter or essay, followed by the book editor(s) and the title of the book followed by publisher information and the year. Use the library's home page and search by title of the book in quotation marks. Example-- "Life of Pi"

References to journal articles

References to journal articles will begin with the article author, the title of the article, followed by the title of the journal (sometimes in italics), a volume number (sometimes followed by an issue number) and a date (often a month and year). Use the library's home page and search by article title in quotation marks. If that doesn't work, search by journal title in quotation marks.
