What is a treatise?
A treatise is a book or multivolume set written by experts and dedicated to a specific area of law. This guide contains a selection of treatises for each of the topics listed below. These are available in print at the library, as ebooks through the library website, or through subscription databases like Westlaw, Lexis, and Bloomberg Law.
If you are beginning research on a topic, or studying for a course, you may also be interested in study aids, which offer introductory-level overviews of legal topics and are aimed at law students.

You may notice that many of the books in this guide do not list publication dates. These are books that are updated regularly to stay current. If you encounter a resource that is out of date, please let us know by emailing lawref@cornell.edu.
