ARKEO 4755 Un-essay Guide: Home

This is a guide for students in Kurt Jordan's Indigenous Erasure and Resurfacing course doing a digital humanities project for their final.

Introduction

This guide is intended to give students in ARKEO 4755 a walkthrough on how to start creating an "un-essay" for their final project. An un-essay is an alternative to the traditional written essay that allows students to explore different modalities of knowledge, expression, and publication. This guide includes:

  • Sample projects, for inspiration
  • Information about the CARE Principles of data, written by the Global Indigenous Data Alliance.
  • Information about metadata (what is it, how to write it, and how to use it)
  • Additional resources for thinking about DH and public-facing digital scholarship

If you need help, please email Kiran at kam535@cornell.edu.

The Digital CoLab also hosts open hours every Wednesday and Thursday from 10am-12pm in Olin Library 701.
