FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Who can take this survey?

All CU faculty including RTE  faculty, except librarians and archivists, will be invited to participate in this voluntary survey.

When is the survey open?

April 13 - May 4th, 2021  (closes at 12 a.m. on May 5th.  Some paused surveys were able to be submitted up until May 7th).

How do I take the survey?

On April 13, a unique survey link will be sent to all faculty inviting them to participate.  The email subject will be "Help shape Cornell University Library's future!"  Please do not share your link with others.  If you do not receive your personal survey invitation, first check your clutter folder.  If not found, please contact us at: assessmentandplanning@cornell.edu.

What will you do with the information received?

The purpose of the survey is to review how library services have supported your work so far during the pandemic (April 2020 - May  2021) -- access to electronic resources, online services and new services created to deliver physical materials, such as contactless pick up or research by appointment in some libraries.

Responses will help us improve library offerings and provide direction for the coming years.

How long is the survey?

The survey should take approximately 10-12 minutes to complete.  It consists mostly of multiple choice questions.

Is there a survey incentive?

The incentive is a stronger library based on your feedback!

Are my responses confidential?

Yes, some demographic data (such as college/department affiliation, rank and years of service) will be cross-tabulated with results in the aggregate.  No personally identifiable information will be released.

Is the survey under IRB (Institutional Review Board) review?

No, the survey is not within the scope of IRB review since results are for improvement purposes only.

Can I take the survey using my mobile device?

Yes, you can, but some of the questions may not display clearly on a smaller screen. We recommend taking the survey on a laptop or a desktop computer.

Can I pause the survey and resume at a later time?

Yes, just click on the red  "Finish Later" button at the bottom of any survey page and it will save your work to date.  When you click on your unique survey link again, it will take you to the page you left off on.

Can I change my answers after I submitted?

No, but you can change your answers at any point before clicking submit.

How will you insure my privacy?

SRI (Survey Research Institute) and the Library Assessment and Planning department adhere to university and Human Subjects research protocols and guidelines to ensure your privacy.   All results will be shared in aggregate form, no personally identifiable information will be shared or released.

When will the results be released?  Where?

We anticipate an initial set of results to be available in late summer. The Results tab in this webguide will be updated with available information.
