Secondary Resources - Databases for Literature Research

ACTIVITY:

  1. Using your research question and research map, identify some key terms.
  2. Select a database below and formulate a basic search.
  3. Play around with your search:
    • If the search yielded too many results, try switching up your key terms (are there synonyms for these terms, are they too broad) or adding in additional key terms or limiters.
    • If your search yielded too few results, try broadening your key terms. Look at your research map, can you focus on a broader question.
    • Ask for help if you need it!

Land Acknowledgement

Cornell University is located on the traditional homelands of the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' (the Cayuga Nation). The Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' are members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, an alliance of six sovereign Nations with a historic and contemporary presence on this land. The Confederacy precedes the establishment of Cornell University, New York state, and the United States of America. We acknowledge the painful history of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' dispossession, and honor the ongoing connection of Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' people, past and present, to these lands and waters.

This land acknowledgment has been reviewed and approved by the traditional Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' leadership.
