II. Search the Library Catalog

To find scientific texts, histories, and “popular” materials (written for non-specialists) along with some primary sources, search peptic ulcer.

III. Find current Scholarly Journal Articles (secondary sources)

    A search for "peptic ulcer" return over 8,000 entries! You'll have to find a way to narrow this down! Suggested search: peptic ulcer and (overview and history) 
  • PsycInfo Suggested search:
    On the first line, enter peptic ulcer OR stomach ulcer OR Gastrointestinal Ulcers;
    On the next line, add "history"

IV. Find current “popular” (i.e. written for the general public, rather than for specialists) articles about ulcers

  • Database: Proquest Research Library  Search tips:
    Add your search terms or phrase: peptic ulcer OR stomach ulcer OR gastrointestinal ucer

    Under Source type, select Magazines;
    Under Publication Titles, select "more" to choose specific magazines.
    If you wish, use the date limits to restrict to a particular date range.

V. Find more articles about the history of ulcers

Including some historical articles that may be considered primary sources (how the condition was understood at various points in history).
