What is Twitter?

Welcome to the Olin/Uris Libraries workshop on Twitter.

Twitter (twitter.com) is the most popular microblogging service and latest Web 2.0 sensation. It's a way to exchange and broadcast snippets of information that answers the question: What are you doing? Whether you want to keep in touch with friends and colleagues, or follow breaking news, Twitter is a fast and easy messaging tool to use.

How Twitter Can Make History

"While news from Iran streams to the world, Clay Shirky shows how Facebook, Twitter and TXTs help citizens in repressive regimes to report on real news, bypassing censors (however briefly). The end of top-down control of news is changing the nature of politics." (from website)
