Steps of the Research Process

Olin Library has created an excellent guide to the Seven Steps of the Research Process.  The guide presents a clear strategy for finding information for a research paper and documenting the sources you find.  Follow the link for more info.

  1. IDENTIFY AND DEVELOP YOUR TOPIC
  2. FIND BACKGROUND INFORMATION
  3. USE CATALOGS TO FIND BOOKS AND MEDIA
  4. USE INDEXES TO FIND PERIODICAL ARTICLES
  5. EVALUATE WHAT YOU FIND
  6. CITE WHAT YOU FIND USING A STANDARD FORMAT
