1.  They are scholarly articles.

2.  They may have these sections:

METHODOLOGY or METHODS

RESULTS

DISCUSSION

CONCLUSION

REFERENCES

3.  They describe an experiment or an observational study

4.  They have statistical analysis!

 

 

About Empirical Articles

Articles that contain statistical analyses are usually scholarly (or academic or peer-reviewed) articles that describe experimental or observational research results.  

They are also called empirical articles.  

Empirical articles are common in the sciences and social sciences fields.
