Equity examples

Example 1: Get the ticker symbol for Procter & Gamble and find the historical price

Step 1: TK < GO >
Step 2: Type procter & gamble.
Step 3: Select PROCTER & GAMBLE (PG US)
Step 4: Select Charts & Tables.
Step 5: Select HP Px Table w/Avg Daily Volume


Notice the market HP in the upper right hand corner of the screen? In future you can go directly to this screen by entering:

Step 1:      TICKER < MARKET > FUNCTION CODE < GO >
Step 2: PG < EQUITY > HP < GO >

Example 2: Find out what beta means and what is it for Caterpillar (we know the ticker is CAT)

Step 1:      BETA < HELP >
Step 2: Select 1) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Step 3: Select BETA to get the definition and see the example of how to use it.


Now we can go directly to Caterpillar's beta this way:

Step 1:  CAT < EQUITY > BETA < GO >

Example 3: Find the weighted average cost of capital for Caterpillar.

Step 1:      We can start by typing weighted average cost of capital.


Notice the system suggests functions in a drop-down menu? You can bypass going to the < HELP > screen if you spot the function you want from this list.

Step 1:      Select WACC from the drop-down list.


Now you see the WACC for Caterpillar, but perhaps you are not sure of how to use this screen.

Step 1:      Click < HELP > To get a description of this function and guidance how to use it.
Step 2:      Click < MENU >  To go back to the WACC screen.

To go to another function, while still looking at Caterpillar, you just need to enter the code and hit < GO >. For example:
