Writing 1340 (Summer 2017): Requesting items

Library Research Guide for Wendy Jones' class

BorrowDirect and Interlibrary Loan

If the library doesn't have a title you're looking for, or we have it but another patron has borrowed it (it's "checked out'), you can use BorrowDirect to request it from another library in the BorrowDirect system. Turnaround time is 3-5 days.

If the library doesn't have the journal that contains an article you are looking for, you can request a scan of the article via Interlibrary Loan. In addition, in the unlikely event that a book isn't available via BorrowDirect, the library will broaden the search to borrow through Interlibrary Loan.

Requesting Books

In many cases, the Request link will take you to BorrowDirect.
BorrowDirect Deliveries are made to the library you select and will arrive in 3-5 days.
Loans are for 6 weeks, with the option to renew for another six weeks.

Requesting Articles...

If you don't find a link to the full text, try the "Get it Cornell" link

If necessary, search the catalog for the journal title (not the article title) -- We may have it in print.

If we don't have the journal, you can place an Interlibrary Loan request.

You will receive an email within 1-3 days with a link to download the article.
