LING 1100-103 : Language, Thought, and Reality: Creating the Science of Language (Spring 2017): Library Homepage

Library Research Guide

Searching from the library home page

The search from the homepage will display several books, several journal articles and other resources that include your key words, (with links to more results at the bottom of each column). These preliminary results are not necessarily the best resources for your topic. For that, you may need the power of the catalog and subject databases.

Sample Search

Go to the library home page and search for this title:

"the language instinct"

Use quotation marks around phrases or exact titles.

This symbol indicates that an item is checked out.

--You can open the record to request the title from another library (approx. 3-5 day turnaround time)

Journal Articles

The results are from a number of different article databases, covering different disciplines.

The search is matching your key words to articles titles, and to the full-text of articles. The best matches are on top.

Look closely, in some cases the article is a "book review" for the book title you searched.

Search subject databases for more focused results.
