Reference Sources
For background information

Subject encyclopedias can be an invaluable first-step for almost any research topic. To find background information for your topic, browse the print Reference Collection by Library of Congress Classification or search some of our online subject encyclopedia collections, below.

Finding additional reference sources...

Add the term "encyclopedia"  to a key word search in the catalog.

Search for a relevant subject guide by going to the Library homepage, Research Help --> Library Guides .

Browse the Reference Collection by LC Call Number Classification. Please note: Browsing by call number is only useful for smaller collections, such as a separate collection of reference materials. The complete Cornell collection is too vast to browse only by call number. To search the complete collection, use the catalog!
