Strategies for Finding Useful Reference Sources

Below are several different approaches you might use to identify relevant reference materials:

1. Find a Library Research Guide for your discipline or subject area (think broadly)

2. Browse the reference collection by LC Classification (for print sources, only)

3. Go to the library catalog, advanced search.
On one line, enter a broad subject term.
On the next line, add encyclopedia dictionary handbook guide and use the pull-down menu to select [any]

4. Ask a Librarian!
