Getting Started with Research

This guide contains select print and electronic resources for the study of ecology.

For this class you'll need to find popular articles and peer-reviewed primary scientific research articles on an issue of interest to you. This guide will show you how.

 

By the end of this class you'll:

  • Identify a topic of interest to you and narrow your focus in order to find relevant information
  • Know the difference between popular and primary, secondary, and tertiary scholarly sources; how to go from one to the other; and where to find them in your field at Cornell University Library
  • Search article databases and retrieve primary peer-reviewed scholarly articles easily
